Tyres weren’t part of the MOT test until 1968!

Did you know? Out of the three original items tested on the mandatory test, now commonly known as the MOT Test, Tyres where not one of them! It wasn’t until 1968 that tyres became part of the MOT Testing requirement with a minimum depth of 1mm. With advancements in technology we now have a better understanding of tyre safety and performance and the minimum tread depth required today is 1.6mm for cars and vans.
